Smoke Out West 2006

On the Road

The first Smoke Out West took place in Cottonwood, Arizona last October. This was sponsored by The Horse magazine. As with all the good things, the journey out and back was the best part. Don't get me wrong, the Smoke Out was great. Bikes made in living rooms and small workshops, with parts found and scrounged...real works of art. Lots of bobbers, Brit metal, choppers with hand built engines that run like drag bikes and sound like music.

Real people. No R.U.B.s, no $100,000 chrome scoots that have less than 500 miles on them...just real people. Lots of rain on the way back made the trip even better. Lighting, wind and lonely roads make it fun. I did 756 miles in one day...wet and cold, but free and happy. We should make this a club destination!

Rest stop near Alamogorda, New Mexico (left). Open roads - open minds!
